Τι είναι η Ε.Ν.Ο.Π. :
Η Ε.Ν.Ο.Π. είναι ένα ανεξάρτητο ΕΘΕΛΟΝΤΙΚΟ μη κερδοσκοπικό σωματείο που έχει σαν σκοπό του την συνδρομή του κρατικού μηχανισμού στην έρευνα και διάσωση ανθρώπων που βρίσκονται σε κίνδυνο στην θάλασσα, 24 ώρες το 24ώρο, κάτω από οποιεσδήποτε καιρικές συνθήκες.
Για να επιτευχθεί ο σκοπός της έρευνας και διάσωσης απαιτούνται:
* Ειδικά εξοπλισμένα ναυαγοσωστικά σκάφη
* Ατομικός εξοπλισμός ναυαγoσωστών
* Εξοπλισμός Ναυαγοσωστικών Σταθμών
* Εκπαίδευση πληρωμάτων, εθελοντών και πολιτών
* Εξασφάλιση οικονομικών πόρων για την απόκτηση του εξοπλισμού και την κάλυψη των λειτουργικών εξόδων
Η Ε.Ν.Ο.Π. για να πετύχει τους στόχους της, χρειάζεται την συμπαράσταση όλων μας (πολιτών-εταιρειών-κρατικών φορέων). Τα ενεργά μέλη της Ε.Ν.Ο.Π. διαθέτουν το χρόνο τους για την επίτευξη του σκοπού της.
Από εσάς ζητάμε να βοηθήσετε αυτή την προσπάθεια, προσφέροντας είτε οικονομικά είτε υλικά. Γίνετε ενεργά ή και απλά μέλη. Δωρητές και Χορηγοί.
On 26th September here on the Greek Island of Paros we witnessed a tragedy at sea of epic proportions. Had it not been for the heroic efforts of our islanders who risked their lives and took their own boats to sea in the 8-9 Beaufort winds and monster seas, and those who lined the shores with torches and car headlights to guide survivors to land, the loss of life would have been even more horrific, when the Express Samina ferry with over 500 passengers on board sailed into the rocks known as 'the Doors' just 2 miles offshore, and sank shortly afterwards in Paros bay with the loss of over 80 lives.
Now we, the local community have taken on the responsibility for safety at sea around the shores of Paros by forming a Volunteer Sea Rescue Service which will be equipped with high speed rigid inflatable boats at 5 locations around the island and an all weather self righting Severn Class Lifeboat as used by the RNLI in the UK to be based in the main port of Paroikia.
We have decided that this is the most appropriate way to honour the memory of those who lost their lives as a result of the Express Samina disaster, and we owe it to all those who rescued survivors that night and to their families, to provide a safer way of saving life at sea.
In order to achieve our aims and objectives we need to raise 5 million pounds so that we can equip our rescue craft, train and equip our teams and maintain this 100% voluntary service to a high standard. If the population of Paros could support such an appeal if would surely do so, but with a population around 10,000 people we are appealing to the rest of Greece and the world to help us.
We now know from our experience that night, that we cannot rely on the help of rescue services from outside and we will not allow this beautiful island with its friendly people to be remembered by the world for an unforgivable tragedy at sea. The people of Paros have risen to the challenge, and now we appeal to your organisation/you to help us to make the Paros Island Sea Rescue service a reality.
